Norfolk Coastline

Stay in comfort, whilst exploring the beautiful coast.

Holiday Cottage

Number 9 Melinda Cottage, East Runton.

A traditional flint cottage, detached, with 2 bedrooms, sleeping 5 comfortably (2 adults and 3 children). Number 9 has been fully renovated, to ensure you have a comfortable stay.

The location is superb, tucked away off of the high street, but literally a stones throw from the beach. The beach has a the coveted blue flag status, and has a mixture of sand and pebbles, there are also RNLI lifeguards on duty during the summer months.

East Runton has a Pub, Fish and Chip shop, an American style Restaurant, Village shop, and a Butchers. Cromer is roughly a miles walk, along the beach or clifftop. In the other direction is West Runton and Sheringham.

Living room

The living room has 2 sofas, seating 3 each and a couple of footstools to rest your weary legs after all those exhilarating walks. If your dog normally sits with you on the sofa we do have a couple of throws that can be put over the sofas, so future guests enjoyment isn’t compromised. A large smart TV is wall mounted, above the working gas fireplace. The TV has free view, and is able to access all stations like Netflix etc. There is a round oak dining table with 4 stools underneath, and a fifth stool that can be pulled up near the fireplace. There are also some games, puzzles and books in case of a rainy afternoon. The downstairs floor has limestone porcelain tiles, so there is no need to worry about dirty paws or sandy toes!

Kitchen

The kitchen is just off of the living area, it has been fully refitted with painted grey cupboards and a solid wood worktop. A large freestanding fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, electric double oven, hob, extractor fan and dishwasher complete the spec in the kitchen. There is plenty of storage, and a good supply of tea towels! A welcome pack will be left here to get you started on your holiday.

Boot room

This is right outside the back door and has lots more hanging space, a clothes airer, an ironing board and iron. This is a great area for storing all your sandy buckets and spades. There’s also a picnic blanket in here which we are happy for you to use at the beach. Anything inside the main house must not be taken to the beach.

Family Bathroom

The Bathroom is very spacious and recently refitted. It has a large walk in corner shower unit, with drenching shower head. A separate full size bath, freestanding sink unit, toilet and vanity unit. The original floorboards are exposed, and there are numerous bath mats. Bath and hand towels will also be provided, but these must not be taken to the beach.

Largest Bedroom

Three full size, single, dormitory style beds, occupy this room, perfect for children and teenagers. Above each of the beds is an individual reading light, as well as a central fishermans' light. A large triple wardrobe, double chest of drawers, bedside tables, and dressing table and chair, can also be found here. Under one of the beds is an extra storage basket for any surplus bits. There is also a hairdryer and large mirror.

Double Bedroom

The master bedroom is a little snug, but alongside the double bed, are bedside shelves for your morning cup of coffee! Both of the bedrooms and the stairs are carpeted. The stairs are relatively steep, but they have a sturdy handrail and a door at the bottom, discouraging doggies or young children climbing up when you aren't looking (please try to keep your four legged friends downstairs).

Garden

There is a small enclosed front garden, big enough for a quiet coffee and a read of the paper on the bistro set outside. It is south facing and has the sun all day long. Who needs a big garden when you have the beach as your playground?

Parking

There is unfortunately NO PARKING at Number 9. There is however, a perfect solution to this negative - there is a NNDC car park in East Runton which is only 200m away. A 7 day ticket costs £28. This parking ticket is then valid in a multitude of NNDC car parks along the coast.

Overview

The cottage has traditional wooden shutters in all rooms except the kitchen and bathroom which have Roman blinds.

WiFi is supplied by Sky and is unlimited. The central heating and hot water is controlled very simply by a nest thermostat, situated in the living area. The boiler is in the utility room and was replaced in July 2019. It has been serviced by a fully registered gas engineer.

A plastic dog bed, and food bowls are available, though please bring your own dog blankets and towels.
