Norfolk Coastline

Stay in comfort, whilst exploring the beautiful coast.

East Runton

The ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the Norfolk Coast is East Runton. It is a small village between Cromer and West Runton.

It has an amazingly long, sandy beach flanked by sloping sandstone cliffs, where you can see the birds nesting within the cliffs. The beach is definitely the biggest attraction, and one of Norfolk's most popular surfing spots. It has the much coveted ‘BLUE flag’ status, and your dogs are welcome to splash in the sea throughout the year.

The beach can be reached by a slope next to the car park, or there are steps alongside the surfers memorial (a weathervane topped with a figure of a surfer, commemorating the loss of 3 local surfers).

At high tide the beach does become pebbly, but as the tide goes out acres of sand are revealed. There is a seasonal lifeguard service and plenty of rock-pools making East Runton a firm family favourite.

Cromer's pier is easily visible in the distance, and Is an easy stroll along the beach or the cliff top.

In the opposite direction to Cromer’s pier is West Runton, at low tide you can walk along the beach, up into the village and back along the coastal path (Perhaps after a little sustenance in the local pub, or tea shop!).
